It's Just A Game
The timely, relevant documentary, It’s Just a Game, exposes the growing epidemic of violence in youth sports. Lazy summer pick-up games have been replaced by fast-paced, intense sports programs. This increase in intensity has had a negative impact on both our children and the game officials. Every year, fans and parents verbally and physically attack children and sports officials. It’s Just a Game gives examples of children who choose to stop playing because of the verbal response of the parents. Also, in many areas of the country, there is a shortage of men and women to officiate the games, simply because of the verbal and physical abuse that sports officials commonly receive.

In Kentucky, a baseball official was attacked with baseball bats by angry parents. In Oklahoma, a fifteen year-old t-ball official got his jaw dislocated by a parent. In Pennsylvania, one father beats another father to death following a hockey game.

Hosted by NFL great Uwe von Schamann, It’s Just a Game does more than shed light on the growing problem of parental violence in the world of youth sports. Through the voice of sports professionals and children, the documentary explains some of the reasons that violence is escalating, and most importantly, empowers and encourages the viewers to change the world of youth sports forever.
